Michael DeGood
I have been a professional videographer and photographer now for 5 years, a digital editor for many more. My skills as a creative professional, including as a producer, a director and an editor have been coalescing around my personal and professional experience for some time. It feels as though I've spent most of my life gathering and sharpening my storytelling, technical and creative skills.
My early years led me from fitness training, martial arts and the art of boxing into soon establishing my own private fitness studio. This experience gave me the momentum to gain the General Manager position for a Culver City boutique gym, which I held for 5 years. When I moved on it was to more fully build my independent Videography business., MDG VIDEO. Now, collaborating as an independent trainer with Real Fitness in Playa del Rey, I provide the in-house Videography and Photography services. I'm delighted to provide continuity for their Social Media video and photography uploads as well as cover Website shoots, Fitness Video series as well as both Client and Trainer Testimonials and Interviews.
I continue to build out my business with exciting projects from Real Estate, to Music Video, Actor Auditions, Reels and Headshots, and numerous projects in between. I can "run and gun" or create a beautiful studio framework for your website or social media upload. The options are endless!
When I first started working out in Junior year of High School, I took the weight training class influenced by those iconic badasses Bruce Lee and Sylvester Stallone. ‘Enter the Dragon’ and ‘Rambo’ made me want to improve the composition of my body. This began a lifelong habit of not only weight training, but curiosity about all aspects of fitness. For example, come to my Calisthenics Class at Real Fitness on Sunday morning. You can thank me later!
Early years at Solana College '92, under the keen eye of the inimitable Teacher/Director George McGuire (a legend in the Bay Area), I was cast in the role of John Merrick in The Elephant Man, and from there I developed an even stronger connection to acting and the theatre and graduated with an M.F.A from the American Conservatory Theatre in 1996. I moved to LA and continued acting in TV and Film until about 2010. [Some of my favorite roles include Hamlet, directed by the late, great Ken Ruta, Sailor (Rose Tattoo) for the ACT MainStage season and Alan (Equus) at TheatreWorks. You might have seen me in some TV roles including The Magnificent 7 and CSI Miami or in films like Callback and the drama Pornographer.] My current work as a videographer was very much germinated in my early experiences in theatre and film. All aspects from the creative to the technical, lit my path to the generation of my own business.
I also very much credit my training in martial arts from about '98, with providing me a thorough appreciation for intensity, discipline and perseverance. Values that guide me to this day. I achieved a Red Belt in Tai Kwondo and participated in a number of sparring competitions. I credit Joe Rivera being a big influence as a personal trainer and coaching me in Art of Boxing. He showed me the ropes, pun intended.
It is my pleasure and passion to continue exploring any and all avenues of inspiration that will support only the best result for your video and photographic projects.
